SONAR
Sonar equipment can be used to understand the quantities of fish present in a body of water.
Sonar is a technique used to detect water depth and the presence or depth of objects in the water by transmitting a signal (ping) underwater and then receiving its echo.
Sonar
VisAdvies also uses a Lowrance HDS 16 unit with Active Imaging transducer. With this setup, the presence of fish can be detected in an area of about 30-40 m wide. Depending on the width of the body of water to be surveyed, multiple transects can be taken in which both riparian zones and open water are surveyed.
